I want to turn off the Discord overlay while gaming. It keeps showing on my screen, and I don’t know where to disable it.

You can turn off Discord's in-game overlay entirely, or just disable it for specific games that it might be interfering with.
Follow these quick steps:

  • Open User Settings: Open Discord and click the gear icon (User Settings) located in the bottom-left corner, right next to your username and microphone controls.
  • Go to Game Overlay: Scroll down the left-hand menu until you reach the Activity Settings section. Click on Game Overlay.
  • Toggle it off: At the top of the menu, flip the switch next to Enable in-game overlay so that it turns grey.

Click on the settings icon in the bottom left corner to open your User Settings. Scroll down the left menu to find Game Overlay under the Activity Settings section. Finally, flip the switch next to Enable in-game overlay so it turns off completely for all games.

Turning off the Discord overlay is really straightforward. Just open up Discord and click on that little gear icon in the bottom left corner to open your User Settings. Scroll down the left-side menu until you find "Game Overlay" under the Activity Settings section. Click on it, and then simply flip the switch at the top that says "Enable in-game overlay" so it turns off. That is it; no more pop-ups while you play!

  • Open User Settings
Click the settings icon in the bottom-left corner of Discord, right next to your username and microphone controls.

  • Navigate to Game Overlay
Scroll down the left sidebar menu to the Activity Settings section and select Game Overlay.

  • Disable the Toggle
Turn off the switch next to Enable in-game overlay. The switch will turn gray to indicate it is fully disabled.
