How long can a reel be on instagram?

The maximum length for an Instagram Reel is up to 20 minutes if you upload a pre-recorded video, though many accounts are still capped at 3 minutes when recording directly inside the Instagram camera. If you are planning a long video of 15-20 minutes, record it separately.
 
If you are recording a reel via the app, you can only take short videos of upto 3 minutes. However, if you want to put long videos in a reel, try recording or storing them on your phone and then uploading it on Instagram Reels. This way, you can put up upto 20 minutes of content.
