How do I program a Roku remote to my TV?

I recently got a Roku remote and want to connect it properly to my TV so I can control functions like power and volume. Can someone please explain the steps to program or pair the Roku remote with my TV?
 
To program a Roku remote to control your TV’s power and volume, first pair the remote with your Roku device. Then go to Settings → Remotes & devices → Remotes → Set up remote for TV control. Follow the on-screen instructions and answer the questions about your TV until the remote successfully controls the volume and power. I have a Roku remote. It’s pretty easy to set up. Just Go to Roku Settings, followed by Remotes & devices, select your remote, click Set up remote for TV control, and follow the on-screen prompts.
 
First off, I would see if the remote has been tested for use with the Roku TV. If it requires a pairing, I would try to open up Settings, Remotes & devices, and then follow the pairing process, keeping the remote close to the TV. I would repeat the steps above if it still doesn't work, changing the batteries and restarting the Roku again.
 
I've been able to get remotes paired onto Roku in no time at all if batteries are OK. Start the TV and open the remote control, select pairing and follow the instructions on the screen. If the remote doesn't power on, reboot the Roku device, examine the batteries and re-try from the start.
